As shown below, choosing the color for a new “Status” value requires choosing from the full-color spectrum. This setting is not easy because the user must carefully tune the color to distinguish it sufficiently from the existing colors. Not impossible, just tedious.
Instead of showing the user a full spectrum of colors, choosing from a set of color swatches would be much easier. (Like when choosing a color for a list icon.)
