Why is my task view not opened in the right context?

If I open a task in one of the list, it is opened in a tiny sized modal window, rather than in the right context panel.
Is this some issue with the setting on the list?
Because it only occurs on some lists.

This is so hard to work with because the modal window always stays so small, especially when the chat panel is opened in the same window…
